Joseph Rolella, Ten Pounder

"Ten Pounder"   2007 Oil on canvas, Size 136 x 96

Artist's Statement

"Humble everyday objects and phenomena from the land, sea and urban based activities have always intrigued me.

These objects provide a starting point for my paintings. The paintings demonstrate the compositional elements of wax grounds thickly painted and heavily glazed surfaces reflecting a mysterious beauty.

My work is about the process of making visible the essence of place and experience.

A sense of place, insincerity and directness."

- Joseph Rolella, 2008
